Introduction Coffee brewing has always been an inexact science with brewing of the right strength left in the hands of the individual. This patented technology makes coffee brewing a more exact process with highly reproducible coffee strength every time. Since the optical monitor is positioned at the bottom of the coffee carafe, a microprocessor can control the point at which the brewing process stops, and also the strength of the coffee. Or, the system can be put into the manual mode and shut off at exactly the number of cups that one desires. The light detector continuously monitors the condition of the brewed coffee and detects subtle changes in the chemistry of the coffee which makes the coffee turn stale. Prototype developed using analog electronics.
